Refund Policy
Coolangatta Senior Citizens Centre (CSCC) complies with the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Our refund policy clearly explains your rights and our obligations regarding payments for classes, memberships, activities and events.
Your Rights Under Australian Consumer Law
Under the ACL, you are entitled to a refund, replacement or credit if a service you pay for:
-
Is not provided with acceptable care, skill or technical ability
-
Is not delivered as promised
-
Is significantly different from what was advertised
-
Fails to meet a consumer guarantee in a major way
These rights apply regardless of any other policy we may have.
When Refunds Are Provided
We will offer a refund, credit, or transfer of booking when:
-
A class, event or activity is cancelled by the CSCC
-
A session is rescheduled and you cannot attend the new time
-
The service delivered differs significantly from what was advertised
-
You are unable to participate due to a verified medical reason (optional: add medical certificate requirement)
When Refunds Are Not Automatically Available
Under ACL, businesses are not required to provide a refund if you:
-
Change your mind
-
Make an incorrect choice
-
Forget to attend
-
Are no longer able to attend for reasons outside the CSCC’s control
However, we aim to be fair and will offer credits or transfers wherever possible.
Membership Fees
Membership fees are generally non-refundable, except where required by the ACL – for example, if services are not supplied or are significantly different to what was promised.
If the CSCC must temporarily close (e.g. for repairs or emergencies), membership validity may be extended.
Class & Activity Bookings
If you cannot attend a class or activity:
-
You may transfer to another available session where possible
-
You may request a credit toward a future class
-
Refunds may be considered in special circumstances, in line with ACL consumer guarantees
We encourage members to notify us as early as possible to allow flexibility.
Events
For paid events (such as special luncheons, day trips or workshops):
-
Full refunds will be provided if the event is cancelled by the CSCC
-
Where external suppliers are involved, any booking fees charged to the CSCC may be deducted, if permitted by ACL
