Happy vibes in the Centre
Our wonderful centre has gone through many changes since its beginnings and after a year of ups and downs and a various hiccups, so many people are thrilled that we are back running your favourite activities and there are so many more on offer coming up.
Please continue to help us create our friendly supportive vibes throughout the centre with your tips & suggestions. We have some amazing new volunteers in reception and meet & greet check-ins as well as a bus driver for our Monday bus pickups, not to mention our Jack-of-all-trades. Since our centre can’t run without the volunteers, including our amazing activity facilitators, we need to continue to make our environment a happy place to be.
This week’s featured volunteers are the Tuesday crew, Julie & Margaret welcoming our newest to the centre, Nola, and showing our Covid-safe check-in procedure.
NEW Rock & Roll Social Dance Tuesday nights!
The Expressions of Interest form for both the Tuesday nights and Friday nights filled up very fast so the lucky Rock n Roll dancers will have a brand NEW social dance starting this Tuesday night 9th March 6-9pm with LIVE MUSIC thanks to our wonderful dance facilitator Anne Swift with the first live musician to be Michael Asma! Since we are having live entertainment and no teaching, the cost will be $7 for members and $10 for non-members. This night is on a trial basis for 2 months, after which we will assess the numbers to be able to continue, so spread the word and make sure you turn up so that it can be viable for all of us!
Friday nights will be a combination of some different flavours of entertainment on rotation – from Cuban to Ballroom to maybe even Square Dancing. Please continue to give us your suggestions if you don’t see your favourite style on the list
Have you danced with Will B. Wright?
The new Tuesday afternoon New Vogue Sequence dance was off to a great start when over 50 people turned up for revision with Dianne & Ken, followed by social dance practice to Patti. What a buzz in the room and what a privilege to meet the (in)famous Will B. Wright, our abundantly creative Anne V’s dance partner! Stay tuned as there are rumours he may be a writer too.
Name Change – HAVE YOU SUBMITTED YOUR FORM TO HAVE YOUR SAY?
There has been a tremendous response regarding the change of name survey:
Coolangatta Senior Citizens Centre Vs Coolangatta Senior Citizens
The committee will collate the preferences and make a decision in the next week or so.
The benefits of Tai Chi are numerous! We are lucky to have a qualified traditional Tai Chi instructor amongst us, Ray Woodward and some very experienced Tai Chi students helping the less experienced. We also have been approached by another experienced facilitator to start a Seated Tai Chi for health class, which will be beneficial to those unsteady on their feet or have difficulty standing too long as well as those with mobility restrictions or in a wheelchair. The new Seated Tai Chi is proposed to start in the next couple of weeks on Tuesday or Thursday mornings 8.15am. Please register your interest and recommend it to any friends or family members you know may benefit.
Have a super wonderful week!
