Located on the southern end of the Gold Coast, the Coolangatta Senior Citizens Centre Inc was built in 1977 after the Coolangatta/Tweed Heads Lions Club accepted the challenge to build a seniors centre for the area. The Coolangatta Senior Citizens Centre was built on land leased from Gold Coast City Council. The community was behind the project and “support came from everywhere” to complete the building.
The Coolangatta Senior Citizens Centre stands strong after almost 40 years providing a meeting place for local seniors and visitors to the beautiful southern gold coast. Membership numbers grow steadily every year with approximately 1200 members in 2015. The range of activities and services has changed to suit the needs of the community over the decades.
The management committee volunteer their time to ensure that the Coolangatta Senior Citizens Centre remains viable, moves with the times and offers the services and activities that meet the social, emotional and recreational needs of older people.
